On The Road to Damascus

While on the road to Damascus,
I met my Saviour face to face.
He showed me the years I'd travelled blind,
While serving others I'd put in His place.

He showed me sin, of which I had no clue.
While ignorant, I could not be exempt,
He showed me that in truth, without Him,
Reaching for heaven was a vain attempt.

He showed me that in order to save myself,
I must first accept His sacrifice,
And ask Him to be my Lord and Saviour,
In exchange I'd be granted eternal life.

He showed me the things I'd grown up to believe,
Were lies born to lead me astray.
The paths I'd sojourned were not ones He'd chosen.
His words only are the ones I'm to obey.

Since that day when my Saviour I met,
Life lived on my own has come to an end.
Others may not approve or support me,
But this is something they can't yet comprehend.

Saul became Paul the day His Lord he encountered,
On a trip very much like my own.
And like Paul after his blessed conversion,
I rejoice that His face I was shown.
