Games We Play

I started out with Chutes & Ladders
And, soon, I was learning Charades.
I played Make Believe for hours
And had imaginary plays and parades.

As I got a little older and cooler,
I was playing Hide & Go Seek.
Then, there was Red Light, Green Light.
But, I always lost 'cause I'd peek.

I loved playing Mother May I
And Simons Says was too much fun.
But, most of all, I liked going to the park,
'Cause I sure did like to run.

I learned to read, write, and count
And I bought the game of Monopoly.
I tried playing the 'Game of Life'
And I got pretty good at 'Yahtzee'.

The older we get, the more games we play
And, sometimes, we learn a lesson
From Chutes & Ladders to Monopoly,
From pop guns to Smith & Wesson,

Be careful of the games you play.
Make sure God would agree,
That every game we play in life
Is as fair as it can be.
