Poems

One of the Proud and Free

I may suffer in silence.
But, the tears I shed are real.
I mourn for the innocent victims
And America's tragic ordeal.

I stand behind my country.
I am one of the proud and free,
Born and bred in the USA.
America, she's beautiful to me.

The blood flowing in my veins
Is a mixture of red, white, and blue.
The sweat, dripping from my brow,
Is a mixture of Stars and Stripes, too.

Though I hang my head in sorrow
For the loved ones America lost,
I'll hold my head up proudly;
Knowing someone will pay the cost.

For I still live in a country
Who believes that united we stand.
I am just one of the proud and free,
In a nation held in God's hand.
