I'm patiently awaiting the New Year
I'm patiently awaiting the New Year.
For, I have resolutions to make.
There are black eyed peas to be eaten
And promises to give and take.
I'll be wanting to raise my glass,
As I toast the coming years,
And ask the Lord for guidance
And strength to face my fears.
I'm awaiting all the surprises
That this New Year will bring
And I'm asking only for a new song
That I could give my heart to sing.
Oh, yes, I'm patiently awaiting
The dawn of a brand new day
And, for each and everyone of you,
A Happy New Year, I pray.
