Poems

Tug o War
I heard the coyotes howling
And I felt so all alone.
My troubles lay before me.
Inside was a war of my own.

Jesus said to give him my cares
And I was trying hard to do that.
But as soon as he would take them,
I would always pull them back.

It felt like playing tug-o-war.
Each one was strong as the other.
Jesus pulled my cares his way.
Then, I would pull them the other.

How long we played, I just don't know.
For, I was busy losing sight
Of what Jesus was trying to do
And knowing that he was right.

I dropped the rope, with all my cares.
Jesus won the tug-o-war.
I gave him all my troubles
And he gave me so much more.
