I'm hemmed in on every side; Fear within, without. The enemy is charging. The cold wind is raging. What is my God about? Ahead is an insurmountable wall. There is no quick escape. I see no light, Only darkest night. My heart is ready to break. "Lord," I cry, "I want to know You more. I've traded the sunshine for rain. I've felt the chill To know Your will. I've traded pleasure for pain. For whatever it takes my will to break, Then hem me in some more. Don't part the water, yet, Not until my will is spent. Please don't open wide the door." It's God that's brought me here, To this dry barren place; My faith to test, In Him to rest - To meet Him face to face. He who comes apart will not come apart. |
