Basking in The Light

Lord, I sit, gazing into the starlight, wondering could it be;
That You left that sweet Heavenly place, just to die for me?

I know I'm not worth much, except for what You did.
You came down to this old earth. My sins Thou truly hid.

Dying on the old Cross for me, Thine Own Father's Son;
Making room for me and others, way up there beyond.

The stars, the sky, all the clouds which go flying by;
It's all so awesome Lord. I just sit, looking there, and sigh.

It's all such a wonder, the old moon of long ago, still looking down
Stars glittering, almost like the shining of Thine Own Holy Crown.

When You came to this old earth and faced the bitter scene,
Thou walked and taught, from the mountains to the valley's green.

The words of Thy Father, what to do, and how in Thee to believe;
So, in the next life, Thy Father would look and see Thy blood and receive.

Satan marches, to and fro, by Thy Father, telling the sins we have done.
But, God, the Father, just looks and says, "I see nothing but the blood of My Son."

He said our sins are thrown as far as the east is from the west,
To be remembered no more. Lord, I feel so blest.

For, while we sit and look at old moon and twinkling stars in the eve,
Thou art there building us a mansion, our souls there to receive.
