He Called Me By Name
In a small town stood a little church, at the end of a lane.
The preacher was preaching when my Savior called me by my name.
He knew me before I was. He knew I would come to the altar
And He knew when He called my name that I would not falter.
I was so excited. When we got home, something was wrong with my dad.
I went in to him and told him I would pray for him. It would make me glad.
I was baptized in old Muddy River, back in Tennessee, just eleven years old.
But, I wouldn't trade that time in my life for castle halls, silver, or gold.
I found a Savior and He still lives in my heart, today. 'Tis so grand
To have this feeling of joy that I could not obtain elsewhere in all the land.
It's a joy of redemption. It's knowing I'll be there with God, one day,
And I know, from His word, that His Son, Jesus, is the only true way.
None other could ever do. He Lord of Lords and King of Kings
And, in that little girl of eleven, true gladness He did surely bring.
Sometimes, I cannot physically bow down, literally on my knees.
But, in my heart, those knees bow and I know to my God it doth please.
Yes, He called me by name. Though, at the time, I did not know.
I just remember the grand feeling, inside my heart, that made me go
Down to the altar of Jesus, to claim His precious gift of unending love;
Knowing that, in that day, He will greet me there, in Heaven, above.
