A Dear Friend
A true friend is always there for you,
Even if it's a little thing;
Even when you moan and groan
At the woe's life doth bring.

They will laugh with you in joy
And cry with you in sorrow.
They'll hang in there with you,
Even 'til the morrow.

They'll always go with you,
You know, even that extra mile.
You tell them how great they are
And, not realizing, they'll just smile.

I can look back on yesterday
And all the days before,
And know that my friend is that
And much, much, more.

This friend has many friends
And I can truly tell you why.
They're always there for everyone,
Always standing by.

In the brightness of our lives
Or in the dark shadows in the night,
This friend is always with us,
Never, ever, out of sight.

This friend means the world to me,
Will always be in my heart.
And, if they ever need me, Lord,
Give me courage and strength to impart.

Don't let me lag behind
If my friend should ever need me.
My friend has been an eternal inspiration.
Lord, let me, in turn, to this friend be.
