| Oh What Mercy For Thee and Me! |
|
Oh, sweet Jesus, what mercy you had for me; To go the way, to win the victory ... Victory for me, a sinner, who you saw, in your sweet mind, That awful/glorious day and set us free. Oh, the old rough, splintered and hardened, Wooden cross that befell on Thee to bear; With none, but a few standing, in the darkened day, With Thee - who really did care. Blessed be the angel that sat beside Thy stone, To tell of Thy great divine release, From a borrowed grave; knowing you would rise Unto Thy place in Heavens' peace. With the Father who had to forsake you, For a while, though it broke His heart, too - Because Thou were His blessed Son hanging there, On a tree, 'til the veil split in two. Oh, what mercy for thee and me, and all Who will come to Him who died for us, that day. Won't you open up your heart and take Jesus in Knowing, for us, He paved the way? They stoned Him, hung Him, put spikes In his dear hands and feet; slit a hole in His side. But ne'er a word said He, upon the cross; Ne'er a word to those who are guilty, but died. I think of Him, there, without a friend who can help. But, that is not why He came at all. No man could have done this hateful deed, alone, Had not God allowed Satan to call. Not knowing it was for His people's salvation, A thwart in Satan's great big plan, That He would take our God's place and Try to be the Master to every child, woman, and man. But, God had divine plans. Oh, what mercy for me And all the world that will believe, That this Christ is Saviour of the Universe. All, who come to Him, He will all receive. Praises to this Jesus Christ, from the Heavens. Forever and forever more may He reign With all blessings from the Father, God, above And until, in a cloud, it doth Jesus bring. |
