| Old Acquaintances |
|
Let old acquaintances be not forgotten... let us love them true. When I sat, and remember the old times we stood for... I remember you. I remember when I first met you... I believe in about ten minutes, I was kissed. I did not slap your face... for fear you'd leave and then you'd be missed.... And missed you would have always been... but I could not tell you yet... It was that I knew you not well darling... I remember we had just met. I thought you were a little fresh at first... though the kiss resounded in my heart. I knew you were the only one... who would in my life take part.. We have loved through the years... through laughter and.... and tears... We have had fun... private jokes, and sweet thoughts, all of these years. Remembering the songs we used to love...makes me long for days of yore... Gathered pecans by a tree in the woods. Others for us... were no more. Old girlfriends and boyfriends forgotten long ago... we had a family of four. Lived in a little small apartment... and had to walk to the grocery store... Kept back money each week... so to the best movie, on Saturday we could go. 'Cause unlike now when we went to a movie... PG wasn't listed in any show. I used to think old people were different... had no knowledge of young today... Boy! I found out... the body may get old, but the heart stays the same ole way. Kids think you're too old... wouldn't understand what they go through now, oh no.... Don't they know that the learning process never stops growing somehow? "HELLO!" |
