Thank You Lord
Thank you Lord for when we were poor, and in need
We learned to economize, it taught us to plant good seed.
Thank Thee lord for my little dress, made from a flour sack.
The millers made them with prints, and Mama would sew forth and back.

We had wonderful food, for you gave us seed to sow.
All of us, kids loved to drop bean seed in a little round and go.
Thank Thee for the well water, cisterns and the pumps we had.
Just thinking of all Thou hath given, makes my heart so glad.

Thanks, Lord for the wagon, and mules that rode us to Church
For pulling down trees for wood to burn, called birch.
I am so thankful now for the stamina, to walk three miles
To sit in Church sometimes, sing Hymns, and look up and smile.

Knowing at home there would be games to play at night
With Mama, Daddy and Grandma if she wasn't hid outta sight!
Did you ever play ships are coming in, loaded with --- what?
It started with the letter of something in the room, apt as not.

I am so thankful we had a Government, who stood for God.
They honored God, Flag, Country and family in this old sod.
If a child swiped candy from a store, they had to go and face the man.
When you got home, you got a spanking, but not, with the hand.

Let's hear it for "Old Times" Yea!
But glad it's not like that today
