Grandma looks at Success

by

Elaine Hardt

Life in general:

· Nobody does everything right all the time; we all know this, don’t we?

When it doesn't turn out right you can turn it into a good lesson, if you keep your cool and think it over.

An inquisitive, honest, caring attitude can be very useful to you.

We're all getting older; some live longer than others. Thinking about this helps us find perspective.

A person does not automatically live "happily ever after."

Success is not

· Making lots and lots of money

· Having lots and lots of connections with influence.

· Bossing everyone else around.

Success is

· Using and developing your personality and talent to make yourself into a good, decent, pleasant person.

· Using your time and energy and influence to do useful and helpful things for people.

· Getting over life's hurdles in a way that's both determined and graceful.

· Discovering the spiritual aspects of life and having a relationship with your Maker.

· Getting to Heaven is the ultimate success.

Of course, the world is big and overwhelming.

· The world is full of trouble, aggravation, violence, greed, and lust for power because that’s how people naturally are in their hearts until they get right with God.

· The world also has some nice, calm, helpful people, but even some of these good people don’t have all the right answers to the big questions.

· Little sins displease God as much as do huge ones, because they all show a lack of respect and obedience to Him.

· There's a spiritual enemy loose in the world who wants nothing more than to ruin the good plan of God for you and for everyone else. He's no match for God, but he will give you plenty of trouble if you let him hang around you.

Life is like school, and trouble is a test.

Watch out for:

· Deception about how it began. Look up at the night sky; can you believe it all "just happened, somehow"?

Deception that keeps you entertained while the world is getting worse.

Deception that says sincerity is what counts, not knowing and doing the truth.

Grandma has lived longer than you, and she wants you to know these five things:

· For being "ancient" the Bible does not make foolish scientific or moral or historical errors, as do the ancient writings of the other world religions. There is no other "holy" book that comes even close to being the truth. You can read and trust what the Bible says.

The only possible way to stop displeasing God is to accept His one and only solution for life. Jesus wouldn’t have died unless it was absolutely necessary to pay for sin.

The time to make a grown-up life commitment to Jesus is now. He will empower you to make it through life and death, all the way to Heaven. No one wants to go to Hell, but some people are too stubborn to pray.

One of these days Grandma is going to see God, face to face. Someday you will actually see Him, too. I want to see you in Heaven. Be there!

Grandma wrote this because she loves guys and gals your age. And if she met you, she'd be sure to tell you that Grandma loves you.
