A Higher Purpose
I place some roses on your grave, kneel silently and cry;
I don't cry for me Kenny, I cry for you--
For all the things in life you've missed, for all you wished to do.

I cry for your life which was taken from you,
Before you really had a chance to see your dreams come true.

I wish you could be here with us, so all of us could see,
As you blow out 32 candles on your birthday cake,
But we know this just can't be.

For thirty-two years ago today, God lent to me a child-
To hold, and love and care for, but only for a little while.

God took you from this Earth my son, to serve some higher purpose,
But I feel your presence around me still,
Especially on your birthday, Ken
And I know I always will.

I am all right, Ken And even though I cry,
Don't look down upon me,
And question the reasons why.

I'm sure you know,
I'm sure you can see
Into the very heart and soul of me.

In loving memory of a dear son
