| Lessons So Dear |
|
The past's mistakes have I marked well And put them down, for future help. Tomorrow's promise may not be Just as today, it seems to me. But, this one day, I have to live (To reach, to love) to others give The best of all I've learned from You; To help to bring my neighbour through Some wrenching trial he may have. So, let me give, to make You glad. "Freely you've received," You say. "So, freely, give away, today. Of blessings full and running over, Be sure to lend your strengthened shoulder." If we could learn the lesson dear, The trial endured to bring us here, Where we possess the strength to stand And reach our neighbour's trembling hand; We'd feel the smile on Heaven's face, As They observe Love's sweet embrace! |
