| My Story |
|
How easily my head was turned! How quickly I believed! How readily I played the game And my great sin received! Old Satan had my present All tied up with a bow. On top, there was a mirror; Inside, woe upon woe! The lovely words I wanted, I held tightly to my heart. Yes, I played the game. I'd never be the same. Satan knew that from the start. But, God is rich in mercy! He pleaded with His lamb. He came down and found my bed in hell And He showed me who I am. He gently cleaned the mirror, So the image became clear, And, there, I saw a sinner; Full of doubt and pride, and fear. My heart was, oh, so heavy! For, I saw myself for real. But, He led me to a rugged cross Where great blood drops I could feel. As I wept, the blood drops covered Every inch of my sick soul And I knew my countenance displayed A sinner now made whole! Then, He put His arms around me And He stood me, oh, so tall! He lifted up my chin, again; Tuned my ears to hear His call. Then, again, He held the mirror And I gasped, as my eyes traced (Not a sin stained soul, but) a life Made whole by the wonder of His Grace! |
