Stand outside your life and look into your heart
See if you can see what God sees when He looks in there.
He comes in and searches for what He needs from you.
And He DOES need you--your talent, your gift, your caring.
He knows you have talents and gifts,
Because He gifted you with them when you told Him that You chose Him.
He sees what is hiding behind the 'couch'--
The pretty place you have set up for Him.
He sees into the corners where the dust of anger,
Poor me, and hate have collected.
He turns quickly and sees the shadow of regret scurrying across the room,
Trying to hide from searching eyes.
In the suitcase named Pride-- right over there--
Are some "I'm gonna get even!",
And a few "What do you mean by that?" .
In a box, high on a shelf, hidden behind a door [you think]
Is a big package of "But what about ME?"
God can see it all.
He cannot deal with it until you have decided
To hand it to Him, willingly,
Holding nothing back.
Freely admitting that you are wrong
That you want His Son to live in there instead
Of all the baggage you have collected.
Here is a job for you!
Making this decision is the hardest thing
A person will ever do!
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus,
Take away the power of pain from all those
Silly feelings that I have stashed away.
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus,
Make it lovely and clean in all the hidden places,
So Our Father can stop in
And feel welcome any time of day or night.
Come and be so big that there is no room
For all that other stuff. I pray. Amen.
