Poems

Down Time
by Noelle Swan

Well, here I lie all alone
Cast down from my mighty throne

Sitting on my knees
I am begging please

To be brought back to those fields Elysian
Where there's no need for rhyme or reason

I'm just trying to understand what this world's about
A few minutes ago I had it all figured out

But that was before when I was up up up
I held the entire world in my coffee cup

Staring down into swirls of black and white
I hold on until it is too tight

Slowly, cracks begin to appear
And I know that the end is near

Reaching into the air trying to grasp
Anything that might save me from the crash

Then the worlds slips away from my fingertips
And I cry out but no sound escapes my lips

And that's how I find myself here
Living once again in fear.
