Enlighten Me

by

Rosemary Anne (Befort) Shiever

Enlighten me, Oh Lord, I pray
When wisdom is what I seek
Comfort me when I am frightened
Guard me when I am weak.

And if others talk bad about me
The way they sometimes do
Guide me with your everlasting light
Please let it shine on through.

If the road gets too rough for me
Oh Lord, be there when I fall
Give me thy hope to carry on
In whatever you choose as my call.

For when they say that I am "different"
Or my lack of molded "experience"' shows
Console me as I shed these dreadful tears
Cause you're the only one who knows.

Enlighten me, Oh Lord, I pray
Cover me with your angel's wings
Help me to continue by your will
No matter what tomorrow brings
