He Called Me by Name
by

Elena Ramirez

Long ago, when lost and all alone
I had no strength, to carry on
So sad was I, that all I did was cry
Try as I could, It did me no good...

You see, I knew of God
I had been raised to believe
But, I did not hold his truth
And had no mind to cleave
To follow his ways, I had no mind to pray...
The way, that I should each day...

I thought, I knew which way to go
But, in my ignorance, I did not know
All I had, was mistakes to show
When it seemed, I could no longer go on...

I thought I would die
The enemy with his lie
Said yes, go on, and try...
This was never in my heart
But, I thought I had no place to start.

But God in his goodness
Stepped in and said "NO,
You my child, can win
Let me, by my son, take away this sin."

He would not let me settle for less
And looked at me with compassion
And offered me his very best...

For whatever reason, I now know
I wandered into a Christian store
Where, there, the Lord, had so much more.

I found a book on a table
That spoke my name,
And said with him I was able
So strange to me, but I could see
The book in its title, had my name written, ever so clearly.

The title read and spoke to my heart and said
If you Love me Elena, Keep my Commandments
It struck me as a jolt, and I stood their silent
And I wept...

I read the pages so carefully,
For you see, my name is not common to many
There I read, in just a moment or two
Of His redeeming grace that came through
Of course, I bought the book
And to my heart, and home, it took...

For He called Me by Name
He said, "My Child
Look at your life
I and only I, can deliver you from strife.

Keep my Commandments, if you truly love me
You will be blessed, to see
The plan I have for you
Will come through...
But you must obey me, wholeheartedly
Love me as I love you....

Read my word, and understand
Only with me, Your God, you can
Turn from the ways of the world
Repent, live a life that is clean
For my eyes are upon you and have seen
Your struggle to juggle, to live right
But you truly have no insight
Do not pollute your mind
Or spirit, with things that bind.

Live life free,
For whom I set free is free indeed
And with great speed...
You will see the difference
As you rely on me as your dependence."

As a true testimony, I write this for all
When he spoke my name, and he did call
The Lord, delivered me from a great fall
From shame....For it came...
Before it was too late And delivered me from the enemy's gate
For that was not my fate...

How merciful, how kind
How wonderfully divine,
That God gave this to me as a sign
It is not coincidence, that this happened to me
But his saving grace that spoke to me
that let me see, and set me free.

He will call you by name
If you claim, his son,
Who came and died for whosoever
Believes in Jesus name
Will be made free, and free indeed
Listen to him...
Turn away from the sin
And with him, you will win..

I call you by name,
For you are mine

July 21, 2004
One of my testimonies of his love...
God knew long ago...
He would call me by name
This poem is dedicated
In honor of my Godfather, and
Uncle Felipe Rivera who passed
away this July 20th 2004 at age 78
God bless him, and his family
For they struggle...
Help them please,
My Lord.

Isaiah 43:1
But now thus saith the LORD
that created thee, O Jacob,
and he that formed thee,
O Israel, Fear not:
for I have redeemed thee,
I have called thee by thy name;
thou art mine.

Deuteronomy 28:10
And all people of the earth
shall see that thou art called
by the name of the LORD;
and they shall be afraid of thee.

I John 5:13
These things have I written
unto you that believe on
the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have
eternal life, and that ye may
believe on the name
of the Son of God.

Father,
I come to you with a humble heart. Even, here and now, I ask that you be ever near and close to my heart.
For, as I write this testimony, I remember where I was when I found that book. I remember how lost, how broken, I was ... and, now, I live a fruitful, healthy, life with peace in you ... because of you, because you called me by name.
This was something that had happened long ago and it just reminds me, and I pray that others can know of how you can speak to our hearts; especially when our faith is low. When we so need a friend, or an answer to prayer, you are able.
Let us not waver or give place to the enemy. For, he does come to kill, steal, and destroy.
Sometimes, we have to wait, on your answers, Lord. But, we must diligently seek you.
But you are so very good, my dear Lord. You are so kind and merciful, My King. So, I thank you and I praise you. For, I know you continually speak to my heart.
For someone, today, I pray, whoever would read this (not sure, where they stand with you). I pray that this would bless them with a wonderful sign of your goodness and that I would hear of it as a great testimony to bring you glory, My Lord.
Thank you for making a way for life abundant, through Christ, our Lord Jesus. Amen.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
saith the LORD, thoughts of peace,
and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
