I don't want to do it my way
by

Betty Jo Mings

Whenever there's a problem, or some trouble anywhere,
The first thing I'm inclined to do is talk to God in prayer.

I tell the Lord the problem and pray He'll right the wrong.
But, then, I feel it's up to me to help the Lord along.

As if fenced in, I plunge ahead to open up the gate
And find it hard to listen when the Lord tells me to wait.

I tell myself 'I know the Lord is able for the task
And, if He needed help from me, I'm sure that He would ask'.

But, still, I run full speed ahead and, sometimes, harm's been done
Because I've tried to fix things and not listened to God's Son.

I know the Lord will work all things together for the best
And He wants me to pray and trust, and let Him do the rest.

So, when I want to dominate and jump into the fray,
I pray I'll give God full control and let Him have His way.
