| If You have a Son by Jacklynn MacKenzie |
|
If you have a son, be he baby, teen or man, And he's giving you some problems, you just don't understand; Don't chide him for eering, don't yell, scold or scream, Just tell him you love him, and things aren't as bad as they seem. However serious or trivial the problems seem today, In time, like the clouds above, they will all be blown away. For God always tests and challenges our love and caring - He presents us with our problems for solving and for sharing. These are tests of faith and character, He gives us every day; And as a Mother we must pray, and seek God's help along the way. I held my sons and rocked them, I fed them and we cuddled, I nurtured them and sang them baby songs, and nursed them through their colic. They'd play in the park with their friends on the swing and slide, Then we'd all head home for dinner, then sometimes go for a ride. Later on came bathtime, bedtime and a prayer, Then it was storytime always Goldilocks and the Three Bears. But the innocence of childhood soon passes away; It disappears, in what seems like a moment, and only the memories stay. We pray that God will be their guide through their teens into manhood We pray the values they have learned, they'll use To grow up gentle, kind and good. While there's life, there's hope, it is said, So through our teaching we hope we've led Our sons n the right direction, And we hope that God will keep them In His divine protection. You never thought you'd see the day they'd come home for awhile, To visit "Mom" and talk at length of the times they drove you wild. So Mothers, if you have a son, cherish him, hug him today, No matter what he's said or done - Don't let it stand in your way. Tell him that you love him now, never turn your back on him, Because he'll always need your love whether he's a baby or a teen; Whether he's tiny or grown, he'll always be your treasure, And just to be his Mother is one of Life's greatest pleasures. |
