Poems

IN MY DREAM ...
I am a millionaire,
With money hanging out of my pockets.
Everywhere I go, people step aside.
I wear new clothes every day,
and a hat and shoes to match.
I have a mansion in every state
And a new sports car in the garage.
There is a chauffeur to drive me around.
In My Dream,
I walk down the street
With a blonde on each side.
I raise my chin so I can see above others.
I belong to every country club and,
When I go in, they let me pass.
          I don't stop for anyone.
I am always the first in line
              And everyone's beneath me.
In My Dream,
I see a man lying on a park bench
  With newspaper for a blanket.
I am no better than him.
I stand in line to receive
        My monthly food supply.
          My clothes are ragged.
There are holes in my shoes
              And my socks don't match.
Not A Dream;
I shine shoes for a $.05
And wash cars for a $.25.
It buys a cup of coffee.
I stand on a corner asking for work.
All I get is laughter.
Trying to get by gets harder every day.

This is Reality.
