My Book Angel
by

Shirley McNeilly

Since my angel went away, I wished
O'er and o'er, that I could see her
Once again come running through
The door.

Grab my neck, and pull me down
And on my lap she'd be
With her picture book in hand, she'd
Grin, and read to me.

Every picture was a word, and each
One she explained.
There was Buzz the dog, Mew the
Cat, for each she had a name.

But on this day when she came in
Joy was in her eyes
Her questions was of angels, and if
They really fly.

She told me of the angel, that she was
With all day.
And said a place called heaven was
Where the angels stay.

She hugged my neck tight and with a
Grin said to me,
"Jesus lives in heaven, and to Him I must
Go read.

Angels are ok, and they are pretty too, but
Jesus made a place for me, and
Things for me to do.

He has a real big lap that he wants me to sit
On, while I read to Him this book,
The one you call His own.

Soon the angel will come for me, that is
What she said, so I will hug you now
And read this book, we've always read.

Momma when I leave please don't weep,
You see I will be with Jesus and He'll
Take care of me.

And when Jesus sends the angel to bring you
Here to Him, I'll have a book with words
And to you I'll read again.

And
We will be rejoicing, singing praises to our
King the one who has it all, and yet
Gave everything..
