SACRIFICE
by K.M. SURESH

The wild wind blew hot
Like a bull crazed with red
The blood flowers waved their heads
The path away from many skies and seas
A sound arrived on tip toe
Like the last words of a dying rain.

A silent deserted night has torn
With a sudden lightning
Like the scratch of a deadly crab
You asked for nothing but my heart
With sweat and dust you came to me
And held out a bloody hand.

Is it for you I kept a smile
Glowing in my heart ?
Is it for you I kept a kiss
Embalmed with purity?
Is it for you, I dreamed
A heroic dream?
The meadow beneath a cloudy evening
The clouds painted red
A honeymoon trip to heaven
With wings spreaded wide.
Is it for you, I made my own
Island of silence
At the heart of the wide wild sea?

My horse laying tired on the ground
Foams came out of its mouth
It laid like a mount collapsed;
Like a big fire extinguished
My sheeps have travelled to the sunlit path
Like waves one by one.
Clouds came down and nested on tree tops
Like fire guns ready to spit.

I know you as my last memory
Of ever lasting seperation
The last drop of my tears
came out of my heart

Pluck my heart and go away
But don't turn your head back
