Poems

Three from Kim Bui of USA

Black

The black
The dark
is all I can see
curled I a corner
lays my heart
my soul
whimpering in pain
and I sigh
for though its over
not in my heart.
There you will rest
the memory
The black
by your side
by my side
In my heart
my soul fights darkness
and loses
They become one.

Monotone

In the immense design of things
Something was left undone
Where someone was made to suffer
in guilt and pain
over nothing
Brooding over what was left of life
It all comes to an end
When the horns make their entrance
and sweet melodies sing their song
What merciless beings they are
When forgetting means forgiving
And something remains unspoken
In the twinkle of an eye
and a twitch of the lip
There is an end to it all
Screams of a vision
Above the world here
monotonous
and slow as it is
The ability to breathe it all in
And realize what it really is
Recognition of repetition
And dreams of childhood lay before us.
Hence begins another day
toil and work and tears unshed
Thoughts of those in comfort
Those finding comfort in the repetition of monotony.

Unnamed man

In the steeliness of his eyes
and the coldness of his heart
lays an inviting touch
and a warmth not perceived by all
For who knows him as well as me?
he is the man upstairs
with the corner office
looking out onto 17th and vine.
He has his own poetic way
of being in the harsh harsh world
in those rapid movements
walking in a manner of don't get in my way
you can sometimes see a flash of caring
but then again
maybe it's just me
He is the man upstairs
with the corner office
looking out onto 17th and vine
He has his own way
of being in the harsh harsh world
Speaking 49 languages
some of his own making
he has his power
and his wealth
but the only thing he doesn't have
is something money can't buy
something he lost all those years ago
when he was lonesome and sorrowful
for the one time in his life
He is the man upstairs
with the corner office
looking out onto 17th and vine.
He has his own poetic way
of being in the harsh harsh world.
