Thank you, God, for Independence Day, The day I chose to follow your way; The day I chose to depend on you and, Especially, the day you made all things new! Grateful I am that you opened the door (The door for your people, who came before), The door you created for the 'land of the free', And for giving the vision of that freedom to be. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the choices you've given (The choice to follow you, or another religion), The choice to love all and seek liberty, And to realize with freedom comes responsibility. I'm grateful, Holy Spirit, for your wise ways; Comforting us through all our days, Counseling us in life matters, galore, And for guiding us through many things more. Thank you, dear God, for your love, mercy, and grace; Your unconditional love, as I seek your face. Your merciful ways are so awesome, it's true, And I will ever be grateful for You being You! Lord God, please help this country return to you; To seek your face, and call your name, too! Help us repent and become truly free. For then, only then, will it happen to be That we'll be in you and you'll be in us. So, thank you, God, for "The 4th of July", The kind of freedom for which many have and will die. That kind of freedom, we know, doesn't come free. But, you've raised up America - unique in all history. Yes, thank you, God, for "The 4th of July"! AMEN |
