The Words of My Heart
by

Barbara Philbrook

The words of my heart and the meditations of my mind;
Aren't as I'd have them to be all of the time.
The imperfection of this flesh in which I reside,
Allows words and thoughts that I can't abide.

Words and thoughts that bring me shame,
Because I know they aren't appropriate in Jesus' name.
They aren't acceptable of one saved by the Father,
Yet they're not eradicated simply by trying harder.

Paul said "What I do is not what I want but that which I detest",
I find at times I'm my worst not my best.
Sometimes I'm ashamed at the reactions of my mind,
The thoughts I think are the worse I could find.

I run to the Father filled with guilt and shame,
Crying out my earnest repentance in Jesus' name.
I surrender anew determined to be my best,
Only to see myself fall short at the very next test.

Now should I give up lay down and quit,
I know there's a solution and I know this isn't it.
I'll continue surrendering to Jesus every day,
Trusting Him to provide what I'm to think and say!

II Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
I Peter 1:13
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Father, my Lord, I praise you,
with all my heart, soul and mind,
seeking you, and only you.
Precious, as a beautiful dove,
may your Holy Spirit,
impart truth,
as I pray.
To each one of us, touching our minds,
our souls to your holy truth.
Praying yes, Lord,
that the meditation of my my heart,
and the words I speak,
will be acceptable in your sight.
For as you say,
that out of the abundance of ones heart,
we speak.
The things, we ponder on,
must be holy in your sight.
Or we store up garbage
in our hearts, and minds,
and we spew out trash, by our words.
Either by thought, or action.
We must bring these things
to your obedience.
Help us,
as we repent, even now.
To think and say,
and do that which is right in your sight
we pray, by your righteousness,
by the sacrifice,
of our dear Lord Jesus,
and in his name,
Amen.
