This Day of Thanksgiving
by

Shirley McNeilly

As a child I remember on Thanksgiving Day
The family together, heads bowed as we prayed.

I often wondered who we had prayed to
For Lord, no one then had told me about You.

The season is changing, leaves turning bright
Gold fall is upon us, soon cold winds will blow.

Summer is leaving, to come back next
Year, and November tells us
Thanksgiving is near.

And I look on the hillside where our large
Pumpkins grow, and see how God's blessed
Each seed that we sowed..

O, the beauty that comes when season's
Change, puts joy in my heart and gives
Praise to His name.

Your name I've learned Lord I once didn't
Know, makes Thanksgiving Day
A joy to behold.

This year my head I will bow once again
And say thank you to Jesus, my
Saviour and Friend.

For this Thanksgiving my Lord's here with
Me, for that I am thankful knowing
He'll never leave.
