| I Can Only Imagine |
|
There are things (oh, so many) That astound and confound, The vastness of the universe; Even the stars have a sound. The stars that are immeasurable. But, God calls the name of each and every one. I scarce can comprehend it all and, With His hands, He formed the blazing sun. Each planet has its measure And He set each in its place. He even knows, to the inch, How much is left of empty space. He knows how many drops of water It takes to fill the oceans' deep. He counted every blade of grass, He that never slumbers; nor does He sleep. His ever watchful eye knows The course of every storm and quake. He directs the paths of them all, Even guides the waves that, Upon the rocks, will break. There is not a pebble He did not design Or a tree He did not set its height. There's not a cricket or butterfly, or ant, That is ever hidden from His sight. He spoke into being All that fills the sky and earth. He formed us, from the beginning, and Appointed the time of death from our birth. My mind tries to take it all in, To conceive such might and power, How, in His great authority, He shaped Mountains and the delicate little flower. He speaks and the thunder rolls. Yet, His sweet breath can send a cooling breeze. He thinks it so and the clouds move. He gives voice to the birds, nesting in the trees. He created man in His own image. He designed us all. We are the workmanship of an awesome God; All things great and small. His greatness fills the universe. His being cannot be contained by any one. Yet, He lives in my heart. I asked it to be so and by His love 'Twas done. |
