An Escape from Apprehension

"Why couldn't you avoid that car?!" These were the first words I pronounced just after the accident had occurred. We thanked the Lord that the car behind us was a little further away from us.

Before we set out on our journey, I told the motorcyclist to speed so that we would be able to reach our destination on time. On the road, the game of overtaking was very sweet; the biker would overtake two or three cars at a time. All I felt was that I would soon reach where I was going.

As we were driving at high speed, we overtook a car and were about to overtake a bike also but we could not as another car was coming from the opposite direction towards us. Before we could slow down, we had already hit the bike in front of us. We fell on the tarmaced road and we sustained some injuries.

The Fear
Whenever I wanted to travel by motorbike, I would caution the biker not to overtake too much. Even when he did overtake, I could not caution him at that crucial moment, - I was too scared. When the fear was too much for me to bear, I would get hold of the biker's shirt and say: " Please, the road is too narrow. Do not overtake that bike or car!"

The Escape
I was really scared of death! I had no means of escaping an accident re-occurring until I read the quotation: " Anxiety could be defined as human beings carrying things that God intended He should carry."

As soon as I finished reading the above quotation, I asked myself these questions: "Am I carrying what God intends to help me carry? Then, why should I carry the burden alone when Someone is there to help me?" From then on, I was no longer afraid of an accident happening whenever I was on a bike.

Whenever the devil reminded me of the possibility of an accident, I would declare: "Is it an accident?! Let it occur! God is in control! I shall not trouble myself over it."
