| "Herman the Monkey" |
| The Birthday |
| One summer day Herman and his mom were sitting on the front porch talking about Herman's birthday which was that day. Herman asked his mom if he could have a Birthday party. His mom looked at him with a sad look and said they could not afford one. About this time came along Herman's friends, Cecilia turtle, George jiraffe, and Cindy bear. They all said "Hi and Happy Birthday" to Herman. Cindy bear said "we are all going over to Rudy rooster's to play." Cecilia turtle asked if Herman would like to come along? "Oh, Mother may I go along and play." "Yes," said Herman's mom. "Just be careful and have a good time. " (You see, the reason for the children going to Rudy rooster's was for a Surprise Birthday Party for Herman). |
| When Herman and his friends arrived at Rudy rooster's house Herman sure was surprised to see all the Birthday decorations. |
| Just then all the children said |
| "Surprise! Happy Birthday, Herman," |
| "Oh my Goodness," Herman cried! " All this for me!" |
| "Yes," they said. "It is a surprise party." Rudy rooster said," We all helped with the decorations and your mom helped with the cake and ice cream. " |
| Herman said," Thank You all!! " |
| Then they all played 'Pin the Tail on the Donkey' and other games. Then it was time to open the presents and have cake and ice cream. Everyone had a really great time. |
| Well, it is getting to be time to go home again so everyone helped clean up from the party before they went home. Again, Herman thanked his friends. |
| When Herman got home, he thanked his mom for the party and everything. Herman's mom said "I am glad you had a good time at the party. " |
| Then Herman's father came in the living room and called his son from the kitchen. Herman came into the living room and to his surprise there was a brand new bicycle. " Oh my" said Herman! "Happy Birthday son from me and you mother." "Thank You," said Herman. So the Birthday turned out to be the best Birthday yet for Herman. |
