Leukemia

He lay, so still, on his hospital bed
While family gathered around.
It seemed like only yesterday,
His laughter could always be found.

But, the past few months, he became so tired
He could barely lift his head.
His body grew weaker, day by day,
Until, finally, he had to be fed.

Just a little boy of ten years old
Who's life was being cut short,
He would no longer run and play
Or take part in his favorite sports.

Friends could no longer call on him
To join them in the sun.
Their lives were just beginning
While his was almost done.

He slowly opened up his eyes
And looked at his Mother and said,
"Mom, I'm feeling no pain, now,
But a great relief instead."

Tears began to trickle
Down his swollen little cheeks
And they knew those would be
The last words he would ever speak.

And, as if by a miracle, a glow
Encompassed the little boy's lifeless form.
The room began to radiate and
They knew he had been reborn.

An Angel of God was heard to whisper
These words that filled their ear,
"Leukemia has lost the battle to Christ.
Your little boy has nothing to fear."
