| The First Murder - Cain and Abel |
|
We know Cain killed Abel, in the Garden Of Eden, And that's how murder began. He slew his younger brother, Abel. Then, he was cursed of God and the land. Cain was a tiller, a planter of seed. He loved to watch things grow and sprout. While Abel was the keeper of his father's sheep; He was a great sheep-herder, no doubt. Then, one day, Cain brought the Lord his first fruits. But, God was displeased with the gift he had grown. So, He turned to Abel and was pleased with his offering; The first lamb hirelings that Abel had owned. Since the Lord was not pleased with Cain's sacrifice, Cain became jealous and took Abel's life. Then, God said, "Cain, where's your brother? He's nowhere to be found And his blood crieth out, to me, from the ground." Cain said, "How do I know? I'm not my brother's keeper," As he looked up and lied, straightway, to God. Then, the Lord became angry and cast Cain out of Eden, To a place that the Bible refers to as Nod. And, when God sent him out, He placed a mark upon Cain So that, by other men, he might not be slain. Then, God blessed Eve with a new son, named Seth; As a gentle replacement for her other son's death. |
