| Victory Over Death |
|
Jesus stumbled from the weight of the cross. His body was bruised and weak, from exhaust. The Romans took a scarlet robe and made a crown of thorns, Placed a scepter in His hand, then spit and mocked, and scorned. Jesus dragged the cross and prodded along. Then, finally, He dropped to the ground. The guards were shouting, "Hail to the King." But, from Jesus, they heard not a sound. A guard grabbed a man, named Simon, To help Jesus carry His load. Then, off they went, to Golgotha Hill; Known also as Calvary road. The soldiers drove spikes into Jesus' hands. Then, they drove them through His feet, too. But, He said, "Father, please forgive them. For, they know not what they do." God's perfect Son died for every man's sin. But, three days later, He rose up, again, With the victory over death and over the grave. He gave us His own life, so that ours would be saved. |
